Description

1. Identify a repeat dispensing co-ordinator for your pharmacy. Whilst not a requirement for the implementation of repeat dispensing, the pathfinder sites have reported the benefits of identifying someone within your pharmacy, not necessarily the pharmacist, to co-ordinate the service. 2. Promote Repeat dispensing. Promote eRD and identify suitable patients for the GP practice(s) as per Essential Service in Pharmacy Contract, by using the ‘suitable for eRD’ stamp. 3. Identify suitable patients. Repeat dispensing will only suitable at this stage for people with stable long- term conditions and on 4 or less regular medicines who are likely to remain on the same medication for the duration of the batch issue NHSBSA data will be provided to highlight patients suitable for the switch to eRD by NHS number for individual practices Schedule 2 and 3 Controlled Drugs cannot be prescribed on eRD. Schedule 4 and 5 Controlled drugs can be prescribed, however, there are conditions for dispensing (GP/Senior PCN Pharmacist to authorise on a per-patient basis) Unlicensed specials are not suitable for eRD Medications requiring frequent review such as acute medicines, warfarin, methotrexate, lithium, DMARDs and benzodiazepines and hypnotics are not suitable for eRD
